Yoga

A yoga teacher provides hands-on-assist to a student that is standing in tree pose, vrksasana.

We take the best parts of the Ashtanga yoga and Iyengar yoga pedagogies, and combine traditional asana with modern biomechanical and anatomical knowledge to safely power your mobility, strength, and mental clarity. With small class sizes, we strive to take our asana practices beyond a workout by incorporating philosophy, mindfulness, and compassion.

About our classes

  • Cultivate more durability and awareness in your body with Stability Flow. This class has a gradual warm up to activate the whole body before flowing into classic yoga poses that challenge mobility, strength and balance. This movement intensive practice prepares you to be flexible and nimble in your passions and challenges off the mat. This sustainable habit fosters longevity and connection in your body and community.

  • Get in touch with your adventurous spirit! Peak Flow is designed like climbing a mountain. The summit is a pose(s) that presents technical challenges. Just as you train for your outdoor adventures, this class carefully prepares the body for the challenge and leaves it up to you to decide how far you go. The focus is on the journey not the destination! You will enjoy the benefits of more strength, focus, mobility and confidence.

  • Cultivate ease, introspection, and relaxation with Meditation Flow. The slow pace of this flow prepares your body to settle into a 10-15 minute meditation. Breath work and repetition prepare your mind to ground too. A variety of meditation techniques will be explored- potentially seated or reclined. The benefits of a PAUSE in your busy day are increased energy, clarity, creativity and focus.

  • Athletic and/or injury recovery requires as much intention as training for optimal performance and improvement. Restore and Recover Flow carves out the time for your body to adapt to the stress of exercise (or life), restore muscle energy sources and repair tissues. The focus on flexibility and mobility may include resting in supported poses, stretching, self fascial release with TuneUp balls and breathwork.

Carlie Bae

Portrait photo of Carlie Jae Bae, yoga teacher and massage therapist.

Pronouns: she/her

Carlie’s yoga classes provide a unique and challenging environment to explore your range of mobility and strength while holding a sense of playfulness with philosophical underpinnings.

  • Carlie found yoga in her teens. It made her feel empowered and strong and graceful in ways that she hadn't had access to before. As she started a journey into healthcare as a massage therapist in 2005, she was not allowed to prescribe movement - although she knew it could help her clients as much as it had helped her negotiate injury, stress and anxiety.

After some searching, Carlie met Catherine Munro in 2012 and was introduced to a method of yoga that was more careful AND challenging than what was popular in the gyms and big studios in Seattle. That’s when she decided she needed to share classes that touch on more than the physical "doing" and truly integrate the limbs of yoga into a practice that is accessible and realistic for all of us in this modern world.

Outside of yoga, Carlie spends a lot of time outdoors skiing, paddle boarding, hiking, and more, often accompanied by her husky, Nook. She is a dedicated mom, finding time to support her business and family in equal measure.

She takes pride in using her background as a counselor in creating a safe space for students of all abilities and bodies to practice yoga.

In addition to being a yoga teacher, Sam is also the mom to a spunky two-year-old, freelance editor, previous middle school counselor, enthusiastic book club member, mediocre trivia player, and avid wine drinker. She loves living in Seattle and being a part of the BR community.

They are drawn to the yoga’s ability to provide physical and spiritual wellbeing and aim to provide that within their own teaching. Additionally, they recognize everyone’s varied abilities partially through the lens of their own wellness journey that has involved years of chiropractic care and physical therapy.

Off the mat, Chris is an avid outdoors person, gardener, and musician. Professionally, they are a marketing strategist and program manager. Fun fact - they built the Body Reflects’ website!

Amy Hirtzel

Pronouns: she/her

Amy’s classes are sequenced to take you on a fun and challenging journey of exploration. She hopes you learn something new about yourself in class.

  • Amy’s first yoga class was a 90-min hot hatha class in 2013 where she discovered her right big toe! This new self-awareness sparked an insatiable curiosity in human anatomy and embodiment that she has satisfied over the last 10 years through extensive study with yoga and science teachers, physical and occupational therapists, anatomists and through her own healing of injuries. She uses this knowledge to cue to your unique alignment in yoga asana.

Although she came to yoga to strengthen her physical body, she soon developed deep respect for the softer benefits of yoga - the quieting of her mind, the space to choose intentional actions, and a more compassionate heart towards herself and others. Her classes will have you working hard while taking it easy on yourself.

Outside of the studio Amy is an avid library user and enjoys sewing garments, watching cricket, wearing big earrings and eating snacks. She likes bright colors and long naps. Her favorite pose is savasana.
